ABC News graphics internship

I undertook an internship with the Australian Broadcasting Company for the News Graphics team for the duration of 4 weeks. During this internship I was required to interpret a set of design briefs and create information-based motion graphics to be used for Television broadcasts within the ABC's brand identity. The briefs varied from different categories including sport, politics, finance, health etc and I was required to problem solve and consider different ways to convey information to fit a specific theme.

The roles and responsibilities that were undertaken consisted of:

  • - Interpreting design briefs set by journalists and developing creative outcomes in response to the set briefs.

  • - Creating motion graphic sequences to communicate information effectively for News broadcasts.

  • - Consulting with my supervisor and the design team for feedback and approval at each stage of developing a graphics task

  • - Following strict deadlines requiring me to complete a set of graphics tasks each day

  • - Consider ethical factors behind creating each graphic and ensuring that each graphic appeals to and is suitable to a general target audience.

  • - Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After effects to illustrate, edit and animate 2D and 3D graphic sequences.

  • - Following the ABC brand Guidelines, observing and learning how to create graphic content from designers within the team.
