The Darkness
The Darkness is a photographic book based on the poem by Dallas E. Krystof highlighting the impacts of feeling isolated and its effect on mental health. The story focuses on the struggle of an individual who feels alone and feels he has nowhere to go. The individual fights and tries to hold on but ends up losing himself and goes down a dark path of substance abuse and self-harm. Mental health is a confronting topic but it is important to highlight these issues as many people struggle and understand what struggle feels like and support those who need help. The photographs were all taken within a controlled studio environment utilising studio lighting techniques and post-production editing to create the lighting effects. Each image aims to express the feelings and emotions felt of the individual and to tell the story through lighting.
